John has been singing in folk clubs for over 50 years and, having retired from a busy working life in the law, John turned his active mind to his interests of singing, social history and writing.

About the talks
From a traitorous baronet to a song-writing fishmonger and many in between, John's talks will lead you back through the centuries and introduce you to some of the fascinating characters of the time.
The talks are illustrated with songs which might range from a 17th century ballad through music hall to Broadway and modern times. A relevant tune on John's concertina will usually be included the performance.
John's talks, lasting between 45-60 minutes are entertaining and informative and have been well received by groups including WI and U3a.
