About John Eaves

John comes from Lancashire and many of his stories reflect his northern upbringing. As a teenager, his ambition was to be a writer, perhaps a journalist. His life path, however, led him to practice law as a solicitor in what he called his “corner shop” in a market town in Leicestershire. His work was interspersed with singing and amateur (occasionally professional) dramatics. It was only when he retired that he was able to return to his earlier ambition of writing. A recent move to Derbyshire has brought him closer to his family and grandchildren.

John lives in Derbyshire with his wife, Debbie, whose encouragement has helped John to publish his first book, Susan’s Secret and Other Short Stories. He has been involved in Creative Writing Groups both in North Yorkshire and Derbyshire and taking part in these has helped to instil in him the necessary discipline to complete the work.

John also gives presentations to societies and groups where he delves into social history, sings, plays concertina and tells stories about the material he presents.
